Having said that, I will put together this list in the hopes that it
may give helpful information to one who may be looking. Keep in mind the
previous paragraph please!!

Revival: A People Saturated with God by Brian
Edwards. |
This is the best book I have read to date on the subject
of revival. It treats the subject accurately but with heart, and I
especially appreciate his fair treatment of men God has used in revival
who have held differing theological viewpoints than the author. I
wrote a review for this book that is supposed to appear in Voice of
the Evangelists. I will link to it when it becomes available. |

Back to Normal by Richard Flanders |
Here is a shorter book but it is one that has the potential
to reshape the revival landscape as many know it. From the first chapter,
"What is Revival?" Flanders makes his case that revival
is not something foisted upon the church without regard to their having
met the biblical conditions. I have differences with this book, primarily
in terminology, but I'm enjoying the read and would agree with much
of it. I will be writing a response to it in time. |

Fools Gold? Discerning Truth in an Age of Error
John MacArthur, general editor
|
A variety of subjects here. I am primarily concerned
with the chapter dealing with the invitation. Entitled, "Just
as I am: Invitations and Altar Calls," this chapter basically
calls for the elimination of the invitation from our churches. I feel
that its throwing the proverbial baby out with the bath water. You
can read my two-part response beginning here: "The
Biblical Place of the Invitation." Other chapters in this
book are good, but that one chapter will hurt many churches by failing
to distinguish between bad invitations and appropriate calls for action,
lumping them all in together as "manipulative." |

Revival God's Way by Leonard Ravenhill |
I've been enjoying some of Leonard Ravenhill's sermons
online so I thought I would grab one of his books when I saw it at
a clearance sale at a Bible college bookstore. I am in the middle
of it now and enjoying it very much. |

Revival by David Martyn Lloyd-Jones |
I have just gotten this one and haven't started it yet. |

Can We Rock the Gospel? by Dan Lucarini and John
Blanchard |
I heartily agree with this book, but it seems to be
a lot of rehashing of stuff that I've read in other conservative music
books. It's nice that it's an up-to-date look, but the music scene
is changing so fast, this book may fall out of date quickly. |
